September Assemblies

6th September

Our first assembly this term introduced our theme for the term

Think Big

13th September 2021

In our assembly today I talked about Emma Raducanu's success at the US Open tennis tournament. I highlighted two things:

1. How she always seems so friendly, kind and hard working but plays an 'aggressive' style of tennis

2. The pressure she felt at her last tournament (Wimbledon) and the amazing emotional intelligence she showed when winning the US Open.

We also talked about how different pressures can affect how we feel and perform and how to get help in school when feeling under pressure. Miss Munday introduced herself as the school's ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) and talked about how she will be using the HUG (Helping You Grow) room.

Mr Roynon also shared one of my favourite stories with the reception children - Stuck by Oliver Jeffers

20th September 2021

Our assembly this morning was on the Think Big theme. We reminded ourselves about our golden rules and talked about limits. What the word limit means When limits are useful I used the 'fleas in a glass jar' experiment to highlight how we can set our own limits which are not always useful.

27th September '21

Today's whole school assembly was on the theme of Think Big.

See the attached for some questions that might make your child think big about their school day. We are always telling the children about the value of overcoming challenges. Grappling with difficult things is often when the best learning happens and it certainly gives us more confidence and a sense of achievement when we find a solution.

We also took some time to celebrate Iona and Peter's great fund raising achievements. They ran a total of 31km during July and raised an amazing £1055 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
