Communication at Mousehole School

At Mousehole School, we wish our relationship with parents to be a joint partnership and hope that you will support us and reinforce the learning your children are involved in at school. This is done by attending parent curriculum meetings, hearing your child read regularly, by discussing your child’s work with them and being as involved as possible with events and celebrations in school.

Staff at the school are very conscientious and work extremely hard to provide a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum. We feel confident that the education your child will receive here at Mousehole will be of the highest standard and look forward to a successful and fruitful partnership with all the family.

To support these links we provide the following:

Staff at the door: All staff try to be available at the beginning and end of each day for quick updates and keeping in touch. We do ask however, that parents respect the teacher’s responsibility for their class from 8:50 and their after school commitments. If you need to spend more time with the teacher they will arrange a meeting as soon as possible.

Reports: These are sent home near the end of the Summer term.

Parents’ Curriculum Meetings: These are held in the Autumn and Spring term. This meeting provides a time for parents to learn the methods their child will be taught in, for example, Maths and/or discuss their child’s progress and any areas of difficulty. If more time is needed then a further appointment can be arranged. If you wish your child to attend themeeting with you please arrange a meeting after school time.

Newsletters: There is a fortnightly newsletter which details forthcoming events and our achievements.  This is sent home every other Friday by satchel post or can viewed via the news page.

Letters to parents: General letters are sent home on a regular basis; these are from the office, FROMS, or from class teachers.

Website: School news, photographs, information, newsletters, games, important documents and pictures are updated on our website and is a useful insight to the school’s day to day activities.  Please visit and save to your favourites.

Text service: We will also keep you informed via text service so we would ask that you ensure that the school office has upto date personal information for you.

Events: We have regular events in school when we open the school up to visitors. These are a great opportunity to come in see what your children have been doing and have a look at how we learn together at Mousehole School.

Twitter: We will try to keep you updated and post regular pictures to our twitter feed @MouseholeSch

Message from the Chair of Governors

As an improving school, maintaining our prime focus on the happiness, safety and well being of our children - we constantly update procedures and communication practices, so this is to keep you informed of recent developments:  If you wish to contact the school by e-mail or letter with a concern, this must always go via the school office. Mr Carter-King— School Administrator will respond by telephone to arrange a face to face meeting without delay having liaised with relevant staff if needed. To maintain professionality we will use appropriate headings in all communications.

For families of two separate carers with parental responsibility, please ensure that both contact details are registered with the school office to ensure good communication with both parties.

Irrespective of any situation or concern, respectful, considerate behaviour by all stakeholders (all staff, governors, parents, carers and children) is expected at all times on our school site and within our community.

In order to implement legally required safeguarding procedures, if you need to come in to school please always report to the school reception. Teachers are available in the playground at the start of the school day or an appointment can be made.

Please also note that parents and carers need permission to access the classroom corridor. Finally, can I just remind you to continue checking the school newsletter and web site for dates, information and current news.

Many thanks - Linda Hodgson (Chair of Governors)
